Sorry Iv been gone for a while

So we are now at the end of April, and I have quite a fair bit to catch up with regarding my experiences. Between my page having some unexpected technical difficulties and me being knocked off the Uber app a surprising number of times, I really did struggle to carve out the time needed to update the blog. So, where do we begin this journey? The time from Christmas all the way through to March turned out to be utterly rubbish for deliveries, there just wasn’t anything substantial to write about, as the workload was getting quieter and quieter with each passing evening. I found myself having many evenings where I would be active on the app for about three hours, sometimes even longer, before I would finally get my first order through.

I really did start to feel like the whole ordeal was pointless and found myself getting envious of the individuals delivering in cars, as some nights were so bitterly cold that my phone wouldn’t even register my attempts to accept orders. It was always dark outside, and I had mentally reached the point of retirement for the winter season.

I did put in some work during the Christmas holidays, although not at the key points due to commitments and obligations with family. I had initially thought that the Christmas holidays would have been a busy time for deliveries, but I suppose there are two distinct perspectives to consider:

A. People simply can’t be bothered to cook or find it far too cold to venture out for shopping, or

B. People are saving their money for all the festive Christmas expenses.

As January rolled around, the orders continued to dwindle and dwindle, and the waiting around became incredibly tedious. I would receive orders that were just not suitable for delivery on a push bike, and the ones that were doable became few and far between, often only offering me a meager £3 per trip. One particularly frustrating evening, I had been out for four long hours and had received only one order, which was too far out of town for me to take. At that point, I made the decision to retire for a while. I opted for a break that extended over most of February and the start of March until the half term. This week wasn’t much better, but at least I was doing it during the day, so it wasn't as cold, and the lunchtime rush appeared to be the best part of the day to deliver. However, after this brief respite, things started to go really downhill from there. I will have everything in the next blog entry.
