The most remembeable deliveries of 24/25
Ok, Now I have nearly reached 1000 deliveries I thought I would put together a list of my most memorable orders.
I will always remember my first order, It was a massive shopping order and I was on my push bike at the time and did it in two trips. £3 for 45min work and no tip.
£30 for less than a mile. I picked up an order that was alcohol from the local co op and it was being delivered only a couple streets away, The order was paying £3 but a little while after I received a tip, The customer had ordered many bottles of spirits and must have tipped 20%. This is the most profitable order I have ever done and genuinely do not think I will get one like it again.
Being taken down by a car. I was transporting a Greggs order of doughnuts and coffee and making my way through the traffic when out of nowhere I found myself sliding on my side down the high street. What had happened is that I was T boned buy a car pulling out of a side street. Despite that I was the one who was laid on the road the driver got out of his car and tried to bombard me with insults and blame. The locals in the area were all very helpful and defending me as I had the right of way. My bike was surprisingly fine and I had only a couple bruises at the time. I would later find that I had actually been injured in this event and I had fractured my wrist and injured my leg.
Being taken down by a car again. Different driver this time and much nicer about it. The traffic through town was at a standstill due to the railway crossing being closed so as I was on a bicycle and delivering a hot meal I filtered my way through the traffic. As I approached a turn a car decided that it had enough of waiting and pulled out right in front causing me to cycle right into the front of the car. I hit the car causing me to go over the bonnet and my bag to go flying, the gentleman got out and was instantly apologetic. I was furious but as I could see that his elderly mother was in the car and very upset I decided to not escalate the situation. I could see this time my bike had taken damage but I was actually fine on this occasion. The gentleman gave me his details so I can contact him about repairing my bike, we shook hands and went our separate ways . I took my bike to the shop and the chap had already left more than enough in the shop to fix the damage.
Locked out. I picked up an order and on the additional notes it asked me to walk right in to the house and deliver the food to them in the garden, Now I thought this was a rather cheeky request but it does mean that I am not waiting at the door and possibly lead to a tip. The house was pretty far out of town and when I arrived I could hear shouting coming from somewhere. I went to the door and rang the bell before trying to enter however the door was locked, I tried to call the customer but as soon as they had answered the call cut off. The whole situation was seeming a bit weird for my liking but hey a tip is a tip aye. I started to walk around the property a little bit to see if I could find another entrance when I started to hear someone shouting again. looked up, down all around and was far off checking under a rock but I could not locate source of the shouting. The timer ran out on the app and I was ready to leave the delivery somewhere safe but then Through two sets of windows I see a woman frantically waving at me. I was taken back by this at first but then started to realise what was happening. The woman who had made the order had locked herself in the courtyard of the property whilst renting out a Air B&B and the only way she could think to get help was to order something. The problem we had was that the front door was on a latch. After looking around the house for a little bit I managed to find and open bathroom window which obviously was the slim one at the top but I thought I will do what I can to help so I climbed up and squeezed my ass in to the building. Little did I know that this big house had been converted in to serval separate Air B&B flats so now I have broken in to the wrong which did not help at all as I was now trapped inside. Between myself and the customer we managed to eventually reach the owner of the B&B and only a short 1hr later he arrived. He was let the woman out of the courtyard and then was very surprised to be letting me out of another flat. The whole situation became a bit bizarre very quickly but it is one of them.
