It’s been ages, so here is what I’v missed
First of all I would like to apologise that I aint posted in a while. Between issues with my Uber account, A broken laptop and being between jobs I just have not had the time to post. Sooooooooo where do I begin, Uber has been up and down when it has come to how busy it has been but there do appear to be patterns in my area. The orders have been worth more where before a Maccies to town would pay about £4 it is now about £7 but there are a lot more drivers now and Uber will prioritise them. I have heard this from many drivers that it is how Uber tends to work but now I have seen what appears to be this situation in person. My partner and a friend had both started with Uber at the start of the holidays and we would meet up before starting our apps. I would watch one of them get an order and if they rejected it then it would shortly be with with the other one at a higher price. I would expect that if they then declined the order I would receive it shortly after but it would never appear and if it did then the amount offered would be the same as the original offer. This got my back up and put me in a bit of a mard.
Another issue I had as well was with another delivery driver as sometimes I would join my partner when she was out delivering and another driver reported to Uber that we were running two accounts from one car. This was not the case and despite explaining that the company should be able to see that my account and my partners account were not running at the same time, Uber still suspended my account for a period of time. This was infuriating as this would be the second time my account has been suspended due to misinformation and a lack of simple investigation on their side.
The next thing I would like to discuss is the random field dweller around the area. Now I started to think The random was going to turn out to be some ancient medicine man but rest assure it is just a random mad man that I believe lives in one of the wooded areas near by. I had spoken to others about seeing this person about and was instantly met with reassurance that he is harmless and is in fact a bit of a well known figure in the local villages yet after all my time living here I had never heard of him before like he was some kind of Mandela effect where out the blue the guy has his own know local legend. I am not going to lie but this has taken away the exciting mystery of it all.
Ok so lets get started, During the first 2 weeks of the holidays I did about 3 hrs one day and then decided to have a proper holiday from working altogether so left it. When I did start, like I mentioned before there has been an increase in drivers for the holidays so the workload was spread amongst many which in this line of work is not welcome.
The orders had been few and far between but when I got started I remained determined and persevered. Once I had waited for and completed a couple of hours then the orders would start to become more frequent and the pay would average about £13 an hour over 6-7 hours. Customers in my area remain very polite and patient but I have received minimal tips, so I no longer count them in to expected earnings.
That is everything I can update you about the general past 3-4 months but I will do another blog soon of interesting events and orders throughout that time.
